Tuesday September 13
Tuesday started slow but early. Much the same as waking up early when sleeping on a couch or something less than amazing, we woke up around six or so, tho we didn't get up for another hour or so. When we finally decided it was time to get moving, we all piled into the grocery store bathroom with our toiletries for the first of many showers in a sink.
One of the best parts of this trip so far has been the looks we get from people looking on as we have cereal or search for clothes in the parking lot. It's very entertaining cuz, "I'm just people watching, other people watching me".
After class in a college parking lot, we met up with a friend of a friend who was going to Montana State Univerisity, and he gave a tour of the dorms, told us a bit about the college and surrounding town, as well as showed us to the mascot bobcat statue. (will post pictures when I get them uploaded off the camera) On our way out of town we took his recommendation and hit up the local Pickle Barrel – delicious as always.
The next stop on the tour was three hours away in Missoula and the University of Montana. We googled the top chefs in town and landed at Biga Pizza. Home of an extremely delicious pizza called the Caramelized Goat. After this it was too late to check anything out at the college but we stopped by an epic skate park where Sam and Jeff did their best with boards twice as long as everyone else.
After this it was off again for the next stop – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Two and a half hours later, we pulled into the community center parking lot around midnight. I was exhausted. Too tired to see the many benefits of finding a campground and absolutely no desire to put off my coma, I refused to move. I was tired and I was sleeping and that was that. So without preparing out sleeping area at all, Jeff slept in the passenger seat, Sam on a mat, and I just laid down on top of all the sleeping bags and longboards and random assortment of things in the back. I learned my lesson that night and will never again try to sleep without making room. It will certainly not be our last uncomfortable night, but it will be the last time we will be uncomfortable for lack of trying.
