Wednesday September 14
When we woke up Wednesday, the community center parking lot was already almost full with early risers. I realized that a shower at the community center, what had seemed a good idea at midnight yesterday, would cost money. And judging by the extremely nice building that looked like it had been built in the last two years at most with more construction on in front of us, I wasn't expecting a cheap pass either. So we went with the shower in a sink again - albeit a much nicer sink this time. Breakfast was also as entertaining as always. Watching people stare in confusing as we have milk and cereal in the middle of the parking lot just never gets old.
With half the day gone, once again cut out for school, we headed out to check off a few to do's. First stop, comic book store! New comics come out Wednesday so... And with that checked off we headed downtown to see about a getting a bike ride in and check out some longboards - Jeff and Sam are making me jealous. Terra Sports recommended a loop only two or three miles away. So with no boards that interested me, we made our way to the trail head.
Jeff messed around with the camera a bit while we all got ready and got us on film as all three of us crashed and got a scrape or two before even leaving the parking lot! He wanted an intro for the video, so we all tried riding, one at a time, up a steep embankment. We each fell, everyone thinking they could do better than the person before and no one succeeding. But hey, it was fun, and we had a laugh so no worries. Halfway around the loop tho, we didn't have a clue where we were. Whether we took a wrong turn or the map just wasn't very clear, we didn't want to go up anymore and didn't know which trail led where so we just headed back down the way we came. Jeff had a nasty fall straight into a tree, but other than that down was much better than up.
After this, the boys had found a cliff jumping spot they wanted to hit before we took off for Eric Maus' house in Springdale, WA. We parked high up on the hill, in front of a house that lay claim to a cul-de-sac all it's own. It was only 25ft tops but from what everyone was saying, it was shallow enough that you had to scoop as soon as you hit the water so you didn't hit the rocks as well. But after only a couple minutes we had all jumped twice. Jeff threw a twist or two but refused to flip. As we were changing back into our clothes, the owner of the house we were parked in front of drove up on us in our underwear. Sam dove head-first into the van, and I just cracked up laughing at him. Not sure what the driver thought, he declined to comment.
So we took off for Springdale, about a 2 hour drive a little north of Spokane. I'm not sure what the requirements for a town are, but apparently they aren't any more strict than a bar and a gas station. we drove straight down the main street (and the only street) of town and there wasn't even a gas station. And I thought Sturgis was small. But our GPS faithfully directed us to the Maus' house. Now unknown and undisclosed to me when I asked if we could stay with Eric, we were imposing on a house that already supports 19 other family members - give or take a few. But with the single day of warning we were generously welcomed in as part of the crew minus the farming duties.
So a huge thanks goes out to the Maus family for providing the first day we didn't have to sleep in our car or shower in a sink on this trip!

Jeff's Peripherals
My feet are losing a snowball fight in the middle of Antarctica, and a Polar Bear just stole my blanket. I'm squeezing dry ice in my hands, someone's sprinkling salt and ice on my knees, and i think there's a very noisy fan on somewhe- oh. my socks are off, sam is hogging the sleeping bag/blanket, and jared has got something stuck in his throat. I can do this.
Wake up. Relocate my toiletries. find my socks. search for the bathroom of a nearby Walmart. Sink shower! brush the pearlies. get odd looks as i walk out of the bathroom and to the car. rummage through the junk in the car to find the plastics. BINGO! bowl+Lucky Charms+spoon+milk=happiness. re-situate la carro. do school until 3 (MNT). drive 5 hours. party time! sleep. repeat. ...Welcome to Montana.Idaho.Washington.Idaho.Washington.Oregon... This experience takes experience to execute well for maximum experience in this in order for your pokemon to get experience to experience the experience of the Elite Four ..with their experience. I miss my family...

Tuesday September 13
Tuesday started slow but early. Much the same as waking up early when sleeping on a couch or something less than amazing, we woke up around six or so, tho we didn't get up for another hour or so. When we finally decided it was time to get moving, we all piled into the grocery store bathroom with our toiletries for the first of many showers in a sink.
One of the best parts of this trip so far has been the looks we get from people looking on as we have cereal or search for clothes in the parking lot. It's very entertaining cuz, "I'm just people watching, other people watching me".
After class in a college parking lot, we met up with a friend of a friend who was going to Montana State Univerisity, and he gave a tour of the dorms, told us a bit about the college and surrounding town, as well as showed us to the mascot bobcat statue. (will post pictures when I get them uploaded off the camera) On our way out of town we took his recommendation and hit up the local Pickle Barrel – delicious as always.
The next stop on the tour was three hours away in Missoula and the University of Montana. We googled the top chefs in town and landed at Biga Pizza. Home of an extremely delicious pizza called the Caramelized Goat. After this it was too late to check anything out at the college but we stopped by an epic skate park where Sam and Jeff did their best with boards twice as long as everyone else.
After this it was off again for the next stop – Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Two and a half hours later, we pulled into the community center parking lot around midnight. I was exhausted. Too tired to see the many benefits of finding a campground and absolutely no desire to put off my coma, I refused to move. I was tired and I was sleeping and that was that. So without preparing out sleeping area at all, Jeff slept in the passenger seat, Sam on a mat, and I just laid down on top of all the sleeping bags and longboards and random assortment of things in the back. I learned my lesson that night and will never again try to sleep without making room. It will certainly not be our last uncomfortable night, but it will be the last time we will be uncomfortable for lack of trying.

Monday September 12
Monday was a very long drive of 9 hours. We pulled into a grocery store at 3am just off the exit into Bozeman. Finally arriving gave us all an energy shot to longboard up and down the deserted main street. Messing around, taking pictures, buildering, and whatnot. Jeffery found a basketball in a plant pot and we were throwing it around in the parking lot. After a few minutes he changed course and chucked it at Sam instead of me. He missed and the ball rolled up a ramp into an open van belonging to the janitors just inside the grocery store. After a few minutes of psyching himself out he ran in when they had their backs turned, grabbed the ball, and ran out - all of us giggling like girls at a sleepover. Soon after we decided it was time to crash, and all piled into the van for some possibly illegal sleep in the parking lot.

The Culprit of it All
Monday September 12
Sunday afternoon my dad asked me to drive my two brothers fifteen hours west to Moscow, ID for a weekend college event that Sam was interested in. At the start of this adventure I was not excited at all. I had no interest in this college and this was a very long way to drive for something I didn't really care about. But as we were looking at the map I said, "Hey! Moscow isn't that far from Seattle!" And from there California was right there and on and on until Sunday night when the plan was to drive west to the coast and south to San Fransisco, over and down through Yosemite, and back up through Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. It'll be a crazy trip and we'll see how we survive!
